Calcium Carbonate
Calcium Carbonate is a versatile mineral filler for paints, plastics, paper and sealants, supplied coated and uncoated, plus feed- and soil-grade calcium.
Ground calcium carbonate is milled from high-purity limestone, marble or calcite. In paints it is an extender that cuts cost and controls sheen; in plastics it is a filler that adds stiffness and lowers cost; in paper it adds brightness and opacity. Particle size distribution, whiteness and purity decide which grade fits which job.
For plastics, the powder is coated with about 1–2% stearic acid so it disperses in the polymer and does not absorb moisture — essential for PP, PE film and PVC pipe. Outside industry, calcium carbonate is a calcium source in poultry and livestock feed, and agricultural lime that corrects acidic soil.

Calcium Carbonate — frequently asked
Coated calcium carbonate is treated with stearic acid, making it water-repellent and compatible with polymers, so it disperses well in plastics and rubber. Uncoated calcium carbonate is used in water-based systems such as paints, paper and adhesives.
Finer calcium carbonate gives better gloss, strength and surface finish but costs more and raises viscosity. Coarser grades are used where cost and high filler loading matter more. The choice is set by the application and formulation.
Yes. Feed-grade calcium carbonate with about 38% calcium is supplied as powder or grit for poultry and livestock feed, tested for heavy metals against feed regulations.
