Terpineol

Terpineol is a lilac-scented terpene alcohol made from turpentine, used in fragrances, pine cleaners, flotation frothers and thick-film electronic pastes.

Terpineol, mainly alpha-terpineol, is made by hydrating pinene from turpentine. It has a sweet, lilac-like floral odour and is one of the most economical fragrance materials, widely used in soaps, detergents and household products.

Its low cost, good solvency and moderate evaporation give it industrial uses too. It is a key ingredient in pine-type disinfectant cleaners, a frother in mineral flotation (a component of pine oil), and the standard vehicle solvent in thick-film pastes for printed electronics and solar cells. Technical and perfumery grades are offered.

Terpineol — frequently asked

Perfumery terpineol has higher alpha-terpineol content and a cleaner, sweeter lilac odour for fragrances. Technical terpineol is used in cleaners, flotation and solvents where odour quality matters less.

Yes. Terpineol is a main component of pine oil frothers, which stabilise the froth that carries minerals in flotation cells.

Terpineol dissolves the binders used in thick-film pastes and evaporates at a controlled rate during drying, giving good printability for conductive pastes in electronics and solar cells.

Yes. Chemtrade manufactures and exports Terpineol (CAS 98-55-5) from Surat, Gujarat, India to more than 55 countries, for customers in Flavour & Fragrance. Send your grade, quantity and destination port for a quotation within one business day.

Every shipment of Terpineol from Chemtrade includes a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis (COA) and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Certificate of Origin, third-party pre-shipment inspection and destination-specific regulatory documentation are arranged on request.
