Sodium Bicarbonate
Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda) is a mild alkali used in food leavening, animal feed buffering, flue gas treatment and fire extinguishers, in technical and food grades.
Sodium bicarbonate, NaHCO₃, releases carbon dioxide when heated or mixed with acid, and buffers around pH 8.3. Those two properties drive most of its uses: it is the leavening base in baking powder, it neutralises acid in the rumen of dairy cattle, and it is the active agent in BC dry chemical fire extinguishers.
Technical grade is used to scrub sulphur dioxide and hydrochloric acid from flue gases, in leather processing and textiles. Food grade (E500ii) is made to food additive specifications with tight limits on heavy metals and arsenic. Both are offered in fine, medium and granular particle sizes.

Storage & handling
Keep cool and dry. Sodium bicarbonate slowly loses CO₂ above about 50 °C and cakes in humidity. Not regulated as dangerous goods.
Documentation
Certificate of Analysis, MSDS, Certificate of Origin, dangerous goods declaration where applicable, and third-party pre-shipment inspection on request.

Sodium Bicarbonate — frequently asked
Food grade sodium bicarbonate is produced and tested to food additive specifications (E500ii) with limits on arsenic, lead and other heavy metals. Technical grade is the same chemical for industrial uses such as flue gas treatment and fire extinguishers, without food certification.
Sodium bicarbonate buffers rumen acidity in high-grain diets, helping dairy cows maintain feed intake, digestion and milk fat. It is typically fed at around 0.75–1% of dry matter intake.
Fine grades react fastest and suit baking powder and fire extinguishers. Medium grades are general purpose. Granular grades flow well, produce little dust and suit feed mills and dry sorbent injection.
